THE Waiheke Collective
The Waiheke Collective, established September 2017, is a collaboration between Waiheke community groups and individuals invested in the ecological restoration of Waiheke Island.
Our Mission statement
We are a united network that works together to activate and amplify efforts, for a healthy and thriving Waiheke natural environment.
Vision and strategic action plan
Waiheke Island has an active environmental community with a range of community and volunteer groups, Trusts, landowners and individuals involved in pest management and ecological restoration projects across the island. This activity is well intended and achieving important ecological outcomes for our island (including controlling weeds and animal pests, planting wetlands and coastal areas), but is not necessarily being delivered in a cohesive and collaborative manner. We want to work with the Waiheke Community to develop a shared vision and strategic approach to ecological action on our island. This will help use our resources (financial, volunteer time) in a more effective manner.
The Waiheke Collective has support and funding from the Waiheke Local Board to develop a vision and action plan for Waiheke ecological restoration, in collaboration with key partners. This process will be coordinated by a facilitator and will take place in early 2018. Further information on this process will be available shortly.
